About Us

Like two sides of a scale, Cincinnati State’s history can be divided between its first 25 years as a technical college, and its second 25 years as a technical and community college.

On September 19, 1969, the college, then known as Cincinnati Technical Institute, got its official start in a former public high school with 650 students and a handful of technical degree programs.

Fifty years later, Cincinnati State Technical and Community College includes four campuses, 130 degree and certificate programs, a highly regarded cooperative education program, transfer programs with more than 20 universities, and more than 10,000 students per year taking credit and noncredit courses, as well as custom workforce development training.

Change has been a constant for Cincinnati State, but several core attributes are evident throughout the college’s history.

Cincinnati State has always been a place of opportunity for students from all backgrounds; a place of passionate educators; a place of learning by doing; and a place ready and willing to meet the needs of employers, university partners and the community.

It is exciting to contemplate the many changes the next 50 years will bring, and to anticipate Cincinnati State’s continued growth as an irreplaceable source of learning, opportunity, and momentum.
